IN-DEFINITION - AT THE WATER MUSEUM
Lisbon, July, 3, 2007
Manuel Carmo's installation show IN-DEFINITION has been an interesting project. The exhibition is integrated in the program of Portugal Presidency of the European Union and will opened to public today. Excecionally, during this show and for four consecutive days, visitors can visit the great water reservatory, totally empty for the effect.
As Gillian Goya, the international curator for this exhibition, mentioned:
"The timing of "In Definition" - The Corridor of Water in Life, by the renowed artist Manuel Carmo could not be more apt. At Mãe D'Água Museum he sends you on a theatrical trip from birth until death and has transformed the Museum into a Water Divinity, a mediation on human life - where we are going - where we would like to be.
Manuel Carmo is full of conviction. He ignores the reminders of cultural specificity and does not fall into any category. It is impossible to disentangle the paintings/text/photography and design as they all blend into one, revealing the artist's gift for storytelling."

paula-rosa.com REVISITED
Lisbon, august, 27, 2006
paula-rosa.com has been the result of my almost complete ignorance in what concerns to websites contruction. It all started with an attempt of creating a place to show my work, other than the common online communities, blogs, etc.
I don't know much about webdesign and what I've done has been done impulsioned by recurrent curiosity and a morbid desire to make it possible.
I believe the site still has a lot of problems in what concerns to functionality but I'm still working on it, trying to improve it. So, lets say, this is an experimental version, a bit more dynamic than the previous one.
-As screen resolutions are normally a problem, this time, I decided to adapt the site to lower screen resolutions. By now, there are just two in which it works better: 800x600 and 1280x1024, corresponding to two versions of the site, being the first less rich in graphics and image quality, unfortunately.
Some background sound was added in order to create a special atmosphere in the galleries.
Was my wish that the user could choose to have it on or off. Still, I couldn't make it work for all browsers and what works to stop it is to refresh the page (specially for FF users. Although it seems to work well for IE users.). Listening to some Calpomatt tunes, I believe the ambiance truly fits the mood of most of my paintings and I hope it will be appreciated.
TIM CHAMPIONSHIP - WEBSITE
Lisbon, august, 20, 2006
New TIM Championship (Hattrick) website undercontruction. Already online, not fished yet.
It has been an interesting experience to create a website with very different characteristics, different purposes... I've been designing all the graphics and the webpages, diving in the blues scale of Photoshop.
MANIFESTO 24 IN NEW YORK
thursday, march 9th 2006
"I manifest that..." says Manuel Carmo about the creative Act. Manifesto 24 will be an amazing exhibition at the Orensanz Foundation for the Arts, New York. All this has by basis a Manifesto about art and the creative act. I'm still working on the project and I'm truly enjoying it, not only because it has been a great challenge but also because I admire Carmo's work. Finished the simulation project for the exhibition, now it has been time for all the graphic design involved: invitations, posters, depliants, etc. I'm currently working in the cover and graphics for the book "Manifesto 24" to be published in New York during this month.
I also made some designs for the UNESCO conference about Arts Education that happened recently in Lisbon.
